Alternative Folk from Carlow, Ireland. Hugsie is a multi-instrumentalist and producer originally from Galway, Ireland, now living in Carlow, who cut his teeth drumming in rock bands throughout the island of Ireland before emigrating in 2015. While abroad, his passion for Irish Traditional music was ignited, where he played in different Traditional and folk groups in London and the UAE before moving home in 2018.

Since moving home, Hugsie has written and released an impressive catalogue of self-produced music, blending Alternative Folk with strong hints of Reggae, Traditional Irish Music, Blues, Hip-Hop and Rock. Following the success of his first single, "Off The Beer I Might", in June 2019, Hugsie enjoyed a summer of gigs and festivals in Ireland and Barcelona, finishing off the season playing the Saturday night of Electric Picnic.

Hugsie's unquestionable work ethic, ambition, and DIY attitude have allowed him to write, produce and release 19 songs to date, including his 2020 EP, “Am I Going Mad” and his 2021 album “Ara”. Honest, relatable lyrics; distinct Irish themes and positivity are Hugsie's musical mantras. Years of experience with different musical styles and instruments have allowed Hugsie to create a truly unique live show, playing the Ukulele, Bodhrán, Suitcase Drum kit, and Guitar.

The energetic, light-hearted, and dynamic atmospheres of his live shows make Hugsie one to watch for 2021 and beyond.
