Tadhg
Undoubtedly one of the most exciting up and coming artists Ireland has to offer. Tadhg’s captivating melodies and bold stage presence combine the dominating rock star aura of Queen with the soul and musicality of Erykah Badu and the stunning visuals of Gaga, Elton John and influential drag artists such as Violet Chachki and Sasha Velour.
Carlow born Tadhg Griffin combines multiple arts like makeup artistry, costume design and dance to visually convey his music. Tadhg is an accomplished musician, having studied piano from the age of 4 he continues to expand his knowledge and appreciation for the art of music to this day.
“Like most Irish people, the first genres of music I played publicly were trad music and church music. From there I went onto write country, folk and pop music. But I never fully identified with it. It’s only been in the last 4 years that I’ve really expanded my appreciation of music and how powerful of an art form it is”.
Tadhg has brought his show stopping performances to stages all around Ireland, from Whelans, The Button Factory and The Workmans Club to some of the most prestigious Irish language events such as Féile Liú Lúnasa, Na Gradaim Nós, Féile na Gealaí and Electric Picnic.
Over the course of these performances Tadhg’s stage presence has grown to rival that of even the most emotive of Irish artists. From his band members wearing custom alien masks to painting his body all the colours of the rainbow mid song, Tadhg has garnered a reputation for visually thrilling and engaging performances.
“The reason I love music so much, is that I can sing what I cant say. A man wearing a dress or makeup or proudly displaying their femininity, isn’t something thats been celebrated in normal public life. But on stage I have free reign to dress and look and sound in whatever I want. People seem to think that its all a costume that my dressing wildly is a performance and the “normal” Tadhg is the real Tadhg. When it’s really the other way around.”
